Called the YWCA of York hotline at 8:05pm tonight on May 18th on a Saturday to report a DV and SA incident and talk to someone on the hotline because I was in a crisis due to those reasons. Sometimes you just need someone on the other end on the line to hear you believe you and listen to you and have empathy. This ignorant "advocate" did not and escalated a situation to where I did not want it to go. I'm still living because I'm writing this review, but she didn't want to hear anything I had to say, it did result in things that I didn't want to happen. She could've been the reason for a suicide. It's not a joke. She also told me that I'm holding up the line. I was trying to explain to this unprofessional unempathetic person that i needed someone to talk to about DV SA and other things and I was needing help and asking for her help, she denied helping me.You need to watch who you hire and or have to volunteer, because all it takes is one person to either save your life, or end your life.
I'll never call here again. I wouldn't recommend anyone else to either.

Finding this place was a godsend. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. If there is a wait for non-emergency services, and you have no other resources, they can point you to other options. But my experience was a very short waiting period, and a caring, supportive environment that truly changed my life.

Mrs. Mary and Mrs Shameka, absolutely amazing. I learned a very valued lesson in interacting with both of them. They always remained the same when it came to the care and respect they showed us. Very clean environment overall and basic needs are definitely meant and it's safe. Can't pull any wool I er their eyes so it's best to be honest, the more honest you are, the better the outcome🙂❣️ INighttime shift, everyone truly truly had the compassion and consistency in the treatment of everyone of us, it never changed nor was it biased❣️ I thank you guys sooooo much. God bless you guys 🥰😘❣️😊
Thanks for helping me and the lessons behind all the help given. Whether I always liked it or not, it added more understanding and made me fight even harder to change my life. You have to be a special kind of person dealing with ppl from soooo many walks of life. ❤️🙏

So I recently just got out of a domestic violent relationship about a couple days ago and another dispute about 2 months ago and because something didn't happen within 24 hours supposedly I don't qualify for their recommendations for for their shelter just because I'm homeless they're very not friendly or caring the only care about themselves and I will be calling corporate on them and letting them know how they treat everyone as far as other people that are calling to see if they have any available resources or if they have any available room for situations like this so because something didn't happen within 24 hours I don't qualify that does not make any sense so I will be calling corporate on you all and taking it from there.
