I am loving everything about Access to Business – Wolverhampton.
From a brief chat with my lovely work coach, Elaine about further training and the possibility of self-employment, it was suggested that I contact Access to Business. Access to Business is a Wolverhampton based charity providing support and training to help local people back into employment and provide some essential information to help your move into possible self-employment.

Since the start of the Covid19 pandemic, most of Access to Business training courses has been moved to online via Microsoft Teams, which for me makes it a lot easier to cope with.

I suffer badly with anxiety, I am not good in crowds and it usually takes me a long time to warm to anyone new so attending the online courses, was a lot easier for me. I very much doubt I would have been able to cope well in a classroom situation.

From the very first phone conversation with Lester, I knew I was going to be OK. Lester is one of those rare individuals who can instantly make you feel welcome and at ease. Most importantly he listens and seems to genuinely want to help.

I found that Lester’s method of teaching was excellent too. He has a wealth of knowledge and is able to explain everything in a way even I could understand. He does not just teach, he involves everyone in the process, asking relevant questions, citing real life examples, and his humour is pretty infectious too. Lester is exceptionally good at motivating and inspiring you to want to do more!

I have at least 6 more workshops to go and I really can’t wait.

If you are looking at starting your own business even if it’s just a thought you have had for a while, I can’t recommend Access to Business enough. They will help you develop the vital skills and confidence so that you are in a much better position to make that move or maybe it will help you realise that self-employment is not for you after all.

The Access2Business team are at Low Hill Community Centre every Wednesday morning to give advice and guidence on benefits and becoming self employed. I went to see Lester and he was very helpful we talked through my situation and he helped me a great deal to find out what I was entitled to. Just by going to see him Im better off by £20 a week. It was simple and he used the computer to find out what I was missing out on. great stuff!
