So to start off with this, I’m writing this as one of her patients that has since grown up. The main issue with her is that she cannot listen to her patients at all and will tell really dangerous information to her patient who are mainly kids.
First example: I’m trans. I bind my chest to relive dysphoria. I’m also asthmatic. I had an asthma attack due to excerise and binding my chest. She then continued to push that I should bind no matter what due to dysphoria. I told her no, that that’s wrong and can ultimately end up damaging someone’s ribs and lungs. She got mad me, and started talking about how she wasn’t an expert about that. I told her she didn’t need to be, and that she just kinda needed to look that up. It should be basic, common knowledge to not recommend an asthmatic to restrict their chest while binding. That is very dangerous. She doesn’t have to be an expert on transgender medication at all, just don’t recommend dangerous things for a paitent.
Next, I have had endometriosis symptoms since the age of 9. Endometriosis is a condition where you have issues that are similar to uterine tissues grow in and outside of the uterus and can have debilitating symptoms and dangerous conditions like cancer tied to it. Usually it looks like heavy, painful, irregular periods. That was it for me along with passing out and vomiting. There is no known reason for the cause and there is no cure. We do know that things like birth control, surgery and hysterectomies can help some patients with pain. Now, back to Dr. Nix. She knew I had these symptoms and she told me when I was older that she suspected I had endometriosis but that she didn’t want to do any invasive procedures, more specially an ultra sound to rule out PCOS. Fun fact, the specific type of ultrasound that was needed? Was one done similar for pregnant people. It’s not an invasive procedure at all and would be appropriate for a 12 year old. I understand not doing any other treatment as a 17 year old almost 18 year old who has done an endometriosis laparoscopy but an ultrasound in that matter? Why didn’t she recommend it. She did luckily send a referral to my OBGYN but still.
Another huge issue I had with her was I devolped a flu when I was 15. I’ve had joint pain and breathing problems along with gastrointestinal issues since then. I was around a bunch of tics right when it happened and while I couldn’t find a bite, I had people with Lyme telling me I should get tested regardless. So I came in, in major pain that has forced me to quit sports and she refused testing, along with any other treatment and then just blamed it on my anxiety. Even if it was just anxiety, it’s an unkind and unnecessary reaction to a healthy 15 year old complaining about joint pain.
If your child is medically complex, chronically ill, disabled or transgender do not send your child to this doctor. And even if they aren’t those things, I would still be very wary. I’m so glad I switched doctors.

I really enjoyed meeting Dr. Nix. She was so good with both of my children. She was kind, gentle, and patient throughout the entire visit. I've been looking for a doctor who has the experience and knowledge she does with a warm demeanor. I really enjoy knowing that I don't have to take off work because Dr. Nix's office at High Lakes Shevlin is open until 7pm on most nights! I highly recommend her as a Pediatrician. Definitely the best I've come across in the area.

I really like Dr. Nix and couldn’t recommend her enough! She is smart, caring and compassionate which are all things that I hope to find in a pediatrician. She seems to really love children and to be good with them. She is very knowledgeable and provides good insight into how your children are doing or things that might help them.

Let me just start off by saying Dr Nix is fantastic. My children have had the privilege of being treated by her and we are so grateful.
She is caring and compassionate and most of all she really listens to me AND my children.
I love that she offers medical treatment but is open to discussing alternative treatments without being dismissive or judgmental

Kristi is a very caring doctor and engaged with my child (not me) during our appointment. I thought I had tried all the home remedies for my child's terribly stinky feet, I had given up hope. Gold Bond didn't help. The smell didn't seem to phase Kristi walking into the room and her ideas worked!! Thank you Kristi

I strongly suggest looking elsewhere especially if your a father. Nix seems to have a problem with dads as equal in the role of parenting.
