I attended a four-day workshop at the studio in 2018. The experience was beyond my expectations. Knowledgeable staff; interesting history of Studio Cassio; kind mentoring on what would be a realistic project; a wonder-filled historic setting and experience. Whether one has a day or several to create their own unique mosaic, I would highly recommend taking the initiative to be able to bring back a mosaic from Rome. The take-away will be priceless.

Studio Cassio’s mosaic class was by far the most unique experience I've booked on Airbnb and had in Rome. I studied abroad in Rome and have been back three other times, and this was a completely original experience.

I LOVED the 2.5-hour mosaics class. Guiliana and her team were so welcoming, friendly, supportive, and enthusiastic about their work and about helping us create our own piece of art. The small group size of 4 people was perfect. Guiliana told us about the history of mosaic art in Rome throughout the centuries and showed us examples of the work their studio has done. Then we got to select a template of a mosaic design. Guiliana let me draw my own cat design and helped me workshop it so it looked worked in a mosaic format. She and the team showed us how to do everything. They helped as we cut and laid out the stones to form the mosaic to ensure the final art looked good. They also provided coffee and water!

I LOVE my final piece of mosaic art—what an incredibly unique souvenir! Definitely do this if you're in Rome!

We took part in the Ancient Mosaic workshop on December 28, 2023. I would highly recommend this enlightening and fun workshop. We visited the Studio Cassio, which is centrally located in Rome. We were greeted by our maestra and learned a brief but deep history about ancient mosaic origins, style, techniques, and global applications…including works that we had seen in both the Vatican and in our home city of New York that we were delighted to learn were works of this studio. Our lesson was hands-on and not rushed; both my husband and I each selected a design to emulate (you can also choose to design your own) and we learned with expert direction how to apply the ancient mosaic technique. We were offered tea while we worked and a perfect nearby recommendation for lunch after. This is definitely NOT a tourist trap type activity. Giuliana and team were amazing. I highly recommend you spend 3 hours of your time in Rome at the Ancient Mosaic Workshop.

This review is a bit late, but my husband and I did a mosaic workshop at Studio Cassio 5 years ago on our honeymoon. This beautiful studio was one of the best highlights of our 3-week journey across Italy.

The family that runs the studio is gracious, and you learn so much about the history and engineering of mosaics during your 2 hr workshop. We had such a wonderful night here. So relaxing, interactive, and memorable (clearly, as I am reviewing this studio 5 years later)! We still talk about this workshop every time we remember our Italy trip.

They offer multiple designs for you to make, but the best part was how flexible and accommodating the studio owner was as she helped my husband create his own custom design for his mosaic based on his favorite video game character. Definitely check this studio out when in Rome - you won't regret it!
